Dramatic pictures as Storm Brian Hits Lyme Regis

Saturday October 21 was not a day to be out at sea. Storm Brian came thundering in from the Atlantic with  gusts of up to 70 mph combined with a high tide, creating huge waves which came crashing over the Cobb.

Jonathan Warner of Warner Vision was down at the Cobb in Lyme Regis between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and captured these remarkable pictures as the storm swept across the South West and other parts of the UK. This short two minute video showcases the majesty and beauty of the sea. Note that the big waves occur from 60 seconds onwards. Also, if you can, please watch full screen with the volume up. It works so much better if you hear the music.

For the technically minded Jonathan filmed it with two cameras, the Sony FS700 and Odyssey 7Q+ on a tripod for the 200fps slow motion, and the Canon 1DX mark ii handheld at 4K 50p. The music is licensed through soundstripe.com

Harry May Fishing Trips naturally stayed moored up for the duration of Storm Brian. You can spot Marie F and Sunbeam in the harbour at the end of the video. They’re the two boats with the pirate flags. Now the seas are calmer, visitors can enjoy Lyme Regis mackerel fishing and Lyme Regis deep sea fishing trips until the end of October.
