Mary Anning's Ammonite Extra Richard Gibbons

This is my friend Richard Gibbons who owns Tower Services, Seaton's number one petrol station with everything else included.

Ammonite extraRichard recently saw the advert asking people with facial hair to apply for a job as an extra in the new film called Ammonite about Mary Anning, the Lyme Regis fossil hunter. He duly sent off the photo you see here and, hey presto, by return he was hired at £120 a day for ten days.

Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan are starring in the independent historical drama a story inspired by the life of fossil hunter Mary Anning. The story is set in 1840s England, when Mary Anning and a young woman sent to convalesce by the sea develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives forever.

Richard tells me he’s got a bit of time off so who knows, he just might be accompanying Kate Winslet at an Oscar ceremony next year.

He had to answer a few questions like “Are you prepared to appear topless or in the nude”? I think his answer was “Hang on, I’ll just ask my wife“. Next question was “Would you be prepared to kiss someone of the opposite sex”?  "Yes" was the answer to that one.

The next question wasn’t quite so easy to answer. “Would you be prepared to kiss someone of the same sex”? Richard wisely left that one blank.

Come Easter, Harry May Boat trips will be back in the water offering their popular Lyme Regis mackerel fishing and Lyme Regis deep sea fishing trips.
